Poor Snickers has lived her first six years as a breeding dog. Her chance for a fun-filled, happy life is now a reality. She’s a friendly sort; she loves people and even smiles at them! Because this Golden gal was never treated as a pet, she will require some leash training, poor gal wasn’t walked. She may even require gentle nudging on stairs and through doorways, too. She’s not problematic, just uneducated, and she’ll pick up her new environment in short order. And know that she is going to be thrilled to be counted as a family member.

Foster Update: 6/25/12
Sweet Snickers has had a rough start to her life. She is adjusting to her foster home with baby steps. She is house trained and does not chew on anything she is not allowed to. She LOVES her foster siblings and will need a canine companion in her furever home. She startles with noises and is not comfortable yet seeking attention and needs the encouragement of her canine siblings. Her foster family is working with her on going up more than a few stairs, moving thru doorways as well as her leash skills. As her foster mom wrote Snickers mantra is: “be patient-God’s not finished with her yet”!

Foster Update: 7/10/12
Snickers is making progress in her foster home. She likes her ‘safe place’ in the closet, but no longer is fearful of the doorways or the steps. She is shy around her foster parents, but LOVES her foster siblings and becomes a more comfortable confident girl when she is around them. She has gone for some short walks in the neighborhood and did very well. When her foster brothers approached their neighbor for some love and attention, she went right up with them and asked for some too and then approached the little girl herself for some pets! Snickers is more comfortable coming to her foster family when called and coming close enough for them to touch her. If her foster family goes outside to sit in the grass, she is now confident enough to come right up to them for lovin’ and gives doggie kisses in return!
Foster Update: 9/7/12
Snickers continues to make progress! Her new favorite spot is in the laundry room with her foster brother. She also likes going outside on the deck when the weather is nice. Snickers comes most of the time when called, but other cues are a work in progress as getting her comfortable in a home is the number one priority! She is now taking treats from her foster mom’s hands…HUGE!! She gets her confidence from her foster brothers and will need another canine companion in her furever home, as well as a traditional fence.
Needs to have a fenced environment and would benefit from obedience training.
