Abby: Female 7 years old

My owner left me at the vet’s office because they could no longer care for me. I am such a sweet girl and love all the attention I can get. My hips have some arthritis and I need light medication and am on a diet, which will help my mobility a lot. My foster mom wants me to walk, but I am being stubborn and would rather just lie around at home and be lazy. She is beginning to win the battle though and I am finding I just may enjoy this walking stuff, but don’t tell her!

Foster Update 03-19-2009:

Abby is a sweetie pie! She is now sleeping thru the night and completely trustworthy in the house. She barks at the front door when she needs to go out to potty. She has begun to play a little bit with the resident dog. Abby needs to loose some weight and daily walks will help with that as well as her arthritis. Abby needs lots of coaxing to go on her walk and does not always like to go, but happily heads back home! Abby has a pillow that she loves and carries in her mouth all the time. She sleeps on it as well! Abby just wants to please and is a low maintenance golden girl who only asks for lots of love and attention!

Foster Update 05-07-2009:

If Abby could talk she would say that she loves her life and everyone in it! She has adjusted nicely to her foster home and her daily routine includes sitting in the front window watching the children play outside or waiting to greet passing neighbors, dogs, cats, or any animal walking in front of the house. Nothing goes unnoticed when Abby is on neighborhood watch! While this self-appointed duty is fun, Abby’s foster family is her #1 priority. She is the best greeter, lover, comforter, and fetcher around. In addition, Abby’s foster sister enjoys her company as well. Penny is never bored with Abby around! After their many daily naps, the two can be found playing tag or tug of war.

Abby has fantastic house manners and is a very low maintenance pet. She can be trusted in the house alone as well as outside. Her arthritis prohibits her from taking long walks and she prefers to stay near home or lounging outside in the sun on the grass or on the back deck. She has a good appetite and is always willing to share her food and toys with her foster sister.

Abby, a truly unique dog, with so much love left to give to a forever family!
