James: Male 9-10 years old

My name is James and don’t let my age fool you. I have lots of energy left in me and as you can see, I love to eat! A good diet and regular exercise will make me buff again.  I love everyone and will make a wonderful companion!

Foster Update 05-21-2009:

James is a big-boned boy and took some time to settle into his foster home, but is coming along very well.  James is a nice boy and definitely a Velcro dog.  I walk two feet, he walks two feet, and even out of a sound sleep he somehow hears me get up and move and is hot on my trail!  Poor boy makes me wonder what kind of home he had before to make him so insecure.  James did have some issues with the other dogs over food and toys, but I let him know that is not acceptable and he has improved greatly in that area.  He is good with the resident cat.  James needs a quiet home to feel secure and definitely wants all the attention someone has to give.  He loves car rides and wants to go with me every time I leave the house.  He loves his ball and is quite active for his age.  James does need leash training.  Because I am not able to walk him due to a foot problem, this is something his furever home will need to work on as I am sure he will love going for walks.  James is fine when left alone with run of the house and does not touch a thing, but will get in the garbage if given the chance ….what golden wouldn’t?!  James wants a furever home where he can be loved and the center of someone’s world….you won’t find a dog more devoted to you!

Foster Update 07-12-2009:

Would you like a pal to literally watch TV with you?  James sits next to me and stares at the computer screen while I am working, especially since I always have pictures of GRIN dogs to print, and he has now taken to watching TV and I don’t mean a quick glance now and then.  He will sit for an hour or more like he knows exactly what he is watching!  He will watch just about anything, but is particularly fond of Animal Planet and will sit right in front of the TV and watch for as long as the TV is on….such a typical man!  When there is a commercial, he turns and looks at me as if to say, “Where did the animals go?”  Then he looks back at the screen and then looks back at me….it is hysterical.  So, if you have a TV, James will love you forever and he will even let you control the remote!

James is really a nice dog and he certainly loves chasing tennis balls and squirrel watching.  He has improved tremendously since his arrival and I have harmony in the home with the other dogs.   The vet said he is 9 or 10, but he is very active without any physical limitations, so long daily walks should not be a problem for him.  He still shadows my every move and I have become accustomed to it.  At least I always know where he is!

Foster update 10-04-09

Do not let this guys age fool you as he is one of the most active seniors I have ever encountered.  He will chase a ball for hours if you let him.  He has tennis balls stashed all over the house and yard and is rarely without one.  He still likes to watch TV, but is not doing that as much anymore – guess he became bored with it!  James is down to a trim weight and is quite handsome.  He eats with gusto and is healthy as a horse with excellent hips (he flies up and down stairs), so please consider giving James a loving, active home.
