Bronco: Male 4 years old

Bronco is a really good boy, but like many males, he’s the boss! He listens well, rides fine in a crate and walks nicely on a leash. He’s a sweetie and handsome as can be!

Foster Update 6-16-2009: Bronco has settled in wonderfully. He is very calm in the house and gentle with the tiny 5 week old kitten that a friend has me watching for 5 days. He loves: long walks (2 or 3 miles every day, so far), being with me on the deck, cooling off on the tile floors and car rides! He is very affectionate and follows me around the house wherever I go. He likes meeting new people and was very gentle with a friends 1 year old granddaughter.

He did meet my next door neighbor's golden (who weights in at 145lb - yikes). A little bit of friction, but no growling or barking.

Foster Update 06-17-2009:

Bronco has settled into our routine nicely. He is more accepting of the crate, as I come home on a regular basis, and we spend any time I am not working together.

He does have a bit of a shoe fetish - no chewing, but he takes one of my shoes from my closet and takes it out to the main area. Then, since they are a pair, he brings the other out to the same area. Other than a little wet, no worse for the wear! He has not learned what to do with a tennis ball yet, but he is trying. It is so funny to watch him - he follows the ball when I throw it across the room, and I am sure he is laughing inside as I run across the room and show him how to "retrieve". So, guess in that sense, he is training me well.

He is great on a walk - stops and watching the birds, squirrels with interest, but stays put and does not pull. He is so gentle on lead, I can hold it lightly in one hand. He stays close to my side, but wanders back and forth between sides. I am working with him on staying on one side or the other.

He loves to be outside - next to walks, he loves to sit outside on my deck next to me and just enjoy the weather. He seems perfectly content to just be near me, whatever I am doing. His favorite position is lying down, with his head resting on my lap.

I gave Bronco his first grooming on Saturday. He did not fuss too much, although he was not wild about the brushing out of his matted hair on his backside. He remained quiet and let me finish with only a couple of "are we done yet?" looks.
