My Special Sponsors: Mark Stevens, Jack Knowles Moses: Male 6 years oldWe need a very special adopter for our sweet and very gentle Moses. He needs lots of on-going TLC while he recovers from a leg amputation—it was seriously deformed and had a bone protrusion. As his bad luck would have it, Moses may also have been hit by a car. Right now, he is in much pain and cannot put any weight on that foot. Once his leg is amputated, Moses will be able to live a normal life. He is a red beauty and has a wonderful temperament. Moses is a cuddler and he’s full of love. Help this boy get beyond his tragedy and give him the gift of a normal Golden life! |
| Foster Update 11/7/09:
Moses came in with his right front leg wrapped. When examined it was found to have an old surgical plate protruding and his leg was determined to be nonfunctional and not repairable. Moses therefore has had an amputation of his right front leg, and is doing well after surgery. Since it seems that he has not been able to use that leg for some time, Moses should have no trouble getting around on three legs. Despite his post surgical pain, Moses is a very friendly golden, wagging his tail upon anyones approach and nudging hands for affection. He will be well enough to go to his foster home next week. Moses needs to have a fenced environment and would benefit with some obedience training. Foster Update 11/30/09: Moses is an awesome Golden! Within minutes you totally forget he is missing a leg. Moses has a big, friendly, outgoing personality. He is excellent with other dogs and has loved running and rolling in the grass with Yoder, his foster brother. Moses has gained confidence with the 4 steps he needs to do in order to go in and out of the house and now leads the group when we go out. He is good with children and adults and easily wins their hearts. He loves to snuggle and is always within inches of wherever his foster mom is. Moses has so much to offer and doesn’t think of himself as “special needs”. However are you a “special” furever home for him??!!
Foster Update 1/12/10: Moses is such a great dog. He loves the kids and they love him! As soon as he gets to his foster mom’s school in the morning they are calling for him. He loves to greet whoever comes to the door and it often takes people a few minutes before they realize he is missing a leg. Moses likes to be right in the middle of where the children are playing. Winter has not been an obstacle for Moses. He loves to play in the snow and continues to chase the ball around the backyard. Moses wants to be where his foster mom is or with another human…he is a true Golden…velcro! Being with his foster brothers is the next best thing if he can’t be with his humans. Moses is such a snuggler..his head has to be on the arm of your chair, on your lap, or he has to be laying next to you!
Foster Update: 2/17/10 Moses continues to amaze everyone that meets him. At work with his foster mom, he loves to be with the kids when they are in the playroom. He is always ready for a belly rub and a hug. He also loves to greet whoever comes to the door. Most often his missing leg is not even noticed! Moses is loving the snow. He and his foster brother Yoder love to roll in it and play outside.Moses is camera shy. As soon as he notices his foster mom has the camera, he turns and hides his face. He has to be tricked into getting his picture taken…to bad as the pictures do not do this handsome boy justice! Moses is well behaved, loves to be around people, and is excellent with other dogs. This boy definitely has therapy potential! Foster Update: 3/22/10 Moses continues to do GREAT in his foster home. He really has no bad habits! He has learned to sit to greet visitors even though he is really wanting to give them a kiss or a hug. He plays with both of his foster brothers and is a big hit at the local dog park. Of course, he first has to get some loving from every person there before he turns his attention to the other dogs. He now sits when his food is being prepared and waits until told he can eat. He still loves to snuggle at bedtime and always is looking for some attention. He is still extremely camera shy though. If Moses even sees the camera he turns around and faces the other way! Foster Update: 4/27/10 This sweet boy is as close to perfection as you will find in a Golden! He has a great interest in squirrels and will sit for a LONG time just staring up at the tree waiting for the squirrel to move or come down. He also continues to shine that Golden personality whenever he meets people. There is not a person with whom he has not been friendly...from babies to adults. He loves to snuggle with the children while they watch a movie. Moses is not comfortable with a large number of stairs, but can do a few in and out of the house. Moses does wonderfully in public, going to the local dog park, walking thru Petsmart, and with all the visitors that come to see him daily. Moses eats well and needs lots of energy to constantly wag that tail! He is still camera shy, but is a real beauty when his foster mom can get a shot of him.
