Available for adoption - New Update & Photo!Bruiser: Male 1.5 years oldBruiser is an owner relinquishment; they knew this youngster had too much energy for them. He was wonderful with their grandchildren and loves having another four-legged friend to play with! Bruiser may be shy at first, but he sure warms up quickly. He loves to roam, so a fence is a must for this young fella.

Foster Update: 3/2/10
Bruiser is an adorable, sweet and very tall boy! He loves his walk and needs lots of daily exercise. Bruiser is loving, velcro, gentle, good with kids, and will be a terrific family dog! Bruiser loves the activity of his busy foster home with lots of people and activities going on. Bruiser has the run of the house when his foster family is home and has proven he has wonderful house manners. Bruiser does not like to be crated and does experience some car sickness, but with his wonderful personality those are definitely not deal breakers!
Foster Update: 3/29/10
Bruiser is doing very well in his foster home. His car sickness seems to be gone and he is doing well in his crate for extended periods. He absolutely loves his training sessions. He is learning clicker training and also trains beside the resident dog learning sit, down, and wait. Bruiser would thrive with a family that has the time to devote to not only daily walks, but daily training sessions too. He really is a joy to work with!
Foster Update: 4/7/10 Bruiser continues to gain confidence in his foster home. He is walking politely past other dogs, sitting at corners, and working on "wait". He is such a handsome boy now after visiting the groomer with the resident dogs. Bruiser will be a great companion for someone willing to give him just a few minutes a day of training and a daily walk. He plays well with the resident dog and has also learned to stop playing immediately and come sit for a treat if called. He really is sweet guy with a lot of hidden potential.
Foster Update: 5/14/10 Bruiser is progressing very well in his foster home. It was noted that he had moderate separation anxiety. Working with a veterinarian behaviorist, Bruiser has been put on daily medication along with behavior training. He is now a much more relaxed dog. He continues to work on politely passing other dogs while out on a walk, doing very well and loves going for his walks! He also has a great time playing with the resident Schnauzer and with his big ball in the backyard. Bruiser is a very sweet dog who loves to be with his family whether it is cuddling on the living room floor or going for a long walk. He learns quickly and really remembers what he learns. He has very good house manners and only chews on his bones and KONGs.
Foster Update: 6/8/10 Bruiser says he is ready to find his forever home! His dream home would be with someone who is with him most of the day. He isn’t fond of being left alone, although he is a good boy about it when it is necessary. He goes to work with his foster mom almost every day. After making his rounds to all the offices getting his rubs, pets, and treats, he settles down behind his foster mom’s chair and snoozes until time for his lunch hour walk. Bruiser walks very nicely on a leash with no pulling. He does need someone who will keep working on maintaining his excitement level when he sees other dogs on his walks. Buster is a fit and trim athletic young man and is the perfect blend of energy. When in the house he is content to nap or be cuddled. But if you want to go for a walk, he is ready to go no matter how many miles you feel like trekking! Bruiser has very good house manners – he has had no accidents in his foster home, does not chew any inappropriate items, and is not a counter surfer. He sits and waits for his meals, before going outside and when coming in, and for his leash to be taken off. Bruiser is also a real lover. He loves to be scratched, brushed, snuggled – whatever kind of attention you want to give to him Bruiser adores and loves you right back! Foster Update: 7/15/10 Bruiser is growing into a very affectionate, well mannered young man, with just enough clown in him to be fun. He still comes to work with his foster mom twice a week, but has learned to stay home the other three days. He loves playing with the resident dog and has had playtime with other dogs as well. Bruiser is hoping to find his forever home soon – he is ready to settle in with a new family and get a chance to show them what a loving guy he can be!
