Adopted!

Gemini: Male 4 years old

This friendly redhead loves to exercise.  He loves to play with his tennis ball by himself, throwing and catching it, then chasing around and dropping it at your feet.  Plus he can play the “retrieve” game really well.  For a picky eater, he’s a little chubby; a healthy diet geared to weight loss will make him feel better.  He is a happy boy and  eager to learn things beyond the few basic commands that he already knows.

 Foster Update: 1/26/12

Gemini is one of the smallest Goldens I've ever seen, but his attitude and personality are 100% pure Golden. He has been with us a few days now, and has shown so many signs of being smart and loyal. He is a bit nervous when the big dogs bark, but wants to play with them. That's not allowed yet, as he still has stitches, but they are looking good and he'll probably be part of the Winter Indoor Games in a day or two! In the meantime, he plays tennis ball by himself, throwing and catching it, then chasing around and dropping it at our feet. He knows "sit", "come" and "get ball". He wasn't eating much while kenneled but is doing better now. He still is a very light eater, but does recognize the sound of the biscuit jar already! He pulls a bit on a leash, but that seems to be lessening as he gets used to his surroundings. He is housetrained, and does give signals when he needs to go out. He can generally be found at my feet, and at night, on the bed with us. He is very eager and happy, and I think would do very well in an obedience class.

 Foster Update: 2/3/12

It's been a long time since we've had a small young dog, but Jimmy Gemini, is keeping us busy and laughing.  He's been a VERY good boy as far as housetraining--no accidents at all. He is always sniffing for something and is usually nearby with a toy. He gets along very well with our resident girl, who is much bigger, but they wrestle all the time. He is learning that when our big boy barks at him, it's to play, and they have started to do that a bit too. He does not like being wet or muddy. Yesterday, I saw him stop at the edge of the sidewalk and jump over the mud to dry land!! He sleeps on the bed with us every night, but is a quiet sleeper.  His appetite is good for his size. Jimmy needs a securely fenced yard and never wants to be in a crate again. He does like leash walks and is good in the car.

Foster Update: 2/13/12

Jimmy Gemini had an eventful week.   He had to go to the vet’s office for a booster shot.  He is very good riding in the car, but likes to sit on the passenger seat if given a chance. His excitement at getting out of the car turned to nervousness once we went into the vet's office. After charming the patients and employees, he found out that he still was getting a shot!  He wiggled halfway through the first one, so had to get poked a second time…poor baby!  He still got a treat from the vet and then a reward of going to the pet store afterward for a little retail therapy!  His little nose was going a mile a minute and he scooted under a shelf to find a stuffed bone that he wanted to bring home...of course he got his stuffed bone and made his foster sister jealous with his reward!  With the first real snow since Jimmy came to stay, he and his foster siblings have been outside at least 6 times, running and wrestling happily. He quickly learned that foster Mom will wipe the snowballs off his paws and keep a close eye on him, since it's so very cold out there. Foster Mom is hoping that one more play period before bed will give her a peaceful night with tired dogs!
