I wanted to update all of you who donated to help save Randy, and tell you that it was definitely worth it!

Randy came to us early in June, having just been neutered, treated for heartworm and having hip surgery.   He was very skinny for such a tall guy and just had the saddest look on his face. We were supposed to foster him, but I knew the minute we met, that I would not let anyone else have this beautiful boy.

randy_9_30_08Four LONG leash- only weeks later, he was announced healthy on both his hip and heartworm and we could now let him him learn to play and teach him to run again.  He did try to play with our resident girl, Sage, but she was getting sick (we didn't know) and was almost 13. So she had no time for the silly boy, but she was tolerant of him, and tried to teach him some manners before she passed away in August.

Randy also did several weeks of hydrotherapy at West Park.  He didn't like the hydrotherapy too much, but loved having his therapist, Amanda, massage and blow dry him after the session. On his last day of therapy as we got home, he RAN out of the garage and took a long loping run through the neighbor's yard.  I was chasing him the whole way, calling his name. When he finally stopped, he just walked up to me and let me put the leash on. The dog has no guilt gene!!

Late in July, we were asked to take Kassie"for a week or so" as there was an adoptive family in mind.  Cool calm Kassie walked into our house as the third dog, and Randy quickly made friends with the ball playing wonder. They have worked out a strange little ball game, and in doing so, have tremendously improved Randy's hip.  He runs with Kassie and pivots on his leg like there was never anything wrong.  Kassie thinks it's all so funny and tries even harder to keep the ball from Randy.

Kassie was very respectful and cozy with our Sage, so when the prospective family adopted another dog and Sage so suddenly passed away, we realized that Kassie made a great addition to the family and a great friend for Randy. So we adopted this easy going and pleasant girl.

We'd all like to thank G.R.I.N. for helping us find each other . A few pictures are attached. One is of Randy after 5 days with us, and  the shot of Randy and Kassie together was taken this week.  They are playing with sticks and Randy (with fur!!) is on the left.

Remember Me

Remember Me? Bella

Hi my name is Bella and I asked my mom to send some pictures to you. I am having a great time and love my new home and my new mom. I have been learning how to sit/stay, down/stay, come, off, leave it, walk on the leash, jump, touch, retrieve my ball, and lots more. This learning is fun but I still have trouble remembering it all the time.

I know I will get better it just takes practice. This weekend mom says I am going to learn how to stay in my yard. Then I will be able to run around and chase the ball without having a leash on. I am really good at barking and letting mom know I have to go outside. That's good, cause I get to enjoy the fresh air each time. I also have met my best friend Obie.
