To know Abner is to love Abner. From the first moment he entered our home in November of 2007, that was it.

He fit right in with our family. He made himself at home with no complaints. He loved his toys and, of course, he loved to eat!! Most of all, Abner loved to be with people.

Within the first week of his adoption, I lost my grandmother to heart failure and I was devastated. Abner never left my side from that moment on. He knew how hard that was for me and didn't want me to go through it alone. Abner's heart was so big I often wonder how it fit into his little body!

He would touch people everywhere we went. He wasn't a certified therapy dog, but I would take him to visit a close friend's mother while she was in Manor Way. It was amazing the way he seemed to know how he touched the lives of the people he met - even if only for a few minutes. He would walk in with a smile on his face and all the love in his heart and give it out to anyone who wanted some. It brought tears to my eyes how proud I was of him, and I still am.

Unfortunately, it wasn't very long until the health problems started to come, but Abner never let that break his spirits. He never failed to keep his tail wagging and his smile gleaming, until the very end. We knew that was his way telling us just how tired he was and that it was his time to cross the rainbow bridge. Abner did just that last evening.

We are blessed to have had Abner in our lives, even if for only 8 months. Abner left us with so many wonderful memories to hold deep in our hearts that we had to share some of them with the rest of the world.

Thank you G.R.I.N. for bringing this four-legged golden angel into our lives!!

Remember Me

Remember Me? Bella

Hi my name is Bella and I asked my mom to send some pictures to you. I am having a great time and love my new home and my new mom. I have been learning how to sit/stay, down/stay, come, off, leave it, walk on the leash, jump, touch, retrieve my ball, and lots more. This learning is fun but I still have trouble remembering it all the time.

I know I will get better it just takes practice. This weekend mom says I am going to learn how to stay in my yard. Then I will be able to run around and chase the ball without having a leash on. I am really good at barking and letting mom know I have to go outside. That's good, cause I get to enjoy the fresh air each time. I also have met my best friend Obie.
