Since our inception, GRIN has found new homes for over 1,300 dogs. We understand that it may not always be possible for owners to provide for their pets in dire situations such as illness, job loss or relocation. It is never an easy decision to relinquish your pet, no matter what the circumstances.
Please take a few moments to visit Can We Help You Keep Your Pet?, to see if there is a way to avoid giving up your loving companion. They offer valuable tips on allergies, training, moving and travel, behavioral problems and many more issues that can arise when you care for a pet. Many problems can be corrected with proper training, patience and knowledge. If finances are an issue, please click here for some resourceful information on possible help with veterinary expenses and the like.
If all else fails and there is no other choice, we are here to make the best of an unpleasant situation. Let us help you find the perfect home for your beloved golden retriever. Your dog will be placed in a loving, family environment with all the comforts of home until he/she is adopted. We screen all our applicants and you can rest assured that we will do our best to provide a new home for your golden retriever.
Read our brochure about the Intake process for more information.
To surrender your Golden, please contact our Intake/Adoption/Fostering Team by leaving a voicemail message on the G.R.I.N. hotline
Or you may email us at I/A/F. Please include your phone number so that our intake volunteer can call you to discuss the intake process.
You can expedite your relinquishment by completing the Intake Profile (PDF format) and mailing or faxing it to us. Please note: We require medical records to be forwarded as well.
Unfortunately, due to privacy restrictions we are not permitted to divulge the names of the adopters of our dogs. However, we follow-up with the relinquishing party to let them know what type of home their dog is in, and whether or not other pets or children are in the home. We hope that this effort helps, in a small way, to comfort the family after making the difficult decision to relinquish their golden.
