Rusty Available after 8/9 Available for Sponsorship Rusty: Male 3 years old Meet Rusty, a 3-year-old doll.  He’s an owner relinquishment; they have financial constraints that are forcing them to part with their pets.  He’s lost his home, so he’s understandably frightened and timid right now.  Once in his forever home and assured he’s loved and cherished, this gentle boy will come out of his shell.  He’s a lover, it’s just that simple.  Rusty has had plenty of exposure to children of all ages, and is fine with cats and dogs, too.  He is crate trained if that’s an option for you.   He is a very good boy, and he wants plenty of your time and attention!
Muffin Available after 8/3 Available for Sponsorship Muffin: Female 8-10 years old More information coming soon...
Rita Available after 8/3 Available for Sponsorship Rita: Female 3 years old Rita’s owner gave her up as they are starting a farm, and petite, sweet Rita is not fond of chickens or bunnies.  But this pretty redhead is excellent with kids and other dogs.  Rita is a tad bit scared right now, but she will warm up and be fine.  She just needs a G.R.I.N. family’s TLC!
Max Adopted! Available for Sponsorship Max: Male 12 weeks old What a doll baby Max is!  He was given up because the children promised to help care for him, but did not make good on their promise.  Max is quite laid-back for a pup and very smart….he knows how to ring a bell when he wants to go outside!  His foster mom is in love and she just met him for the first time today.  She said, “What a precious little guy….he is awesome!”  But, who doesn’t love a golden puppy!  We have several people on a waiting list for a puppy, so by the time you read this, he will probably be spoken for.
Connor Available for adoption My Special Sponsor:    Kathleen Aey Connor: Male 9 years old This is one of the sweetest, gentlest Golden boys we’ve had in a long time…and we’ve had plenty!  He’s a tail wager - just as happy as can be.  Connor’s owners sadly were forced to relinquish him when their daughter developed horrible allergies.  This calm pet loves children, is fine with other dogs and enjoys cats.  Connor is a prime example of why Goldens have good reputations.  He will make an excellent family dog and companion!
Penny Available for adoption-Update! Available for Sponsorship Penny: Female 2 years old Her owner is moving into an apartment and can’t take her Penelope with her – and boy is she sad to be losing her girl. Penny loves other dogs – she’s been to training classes and doggie daycare and thoroughly enjoyed both! She is fond of kids and even cats, too. We are told Penny can be a bit bossy and may want to run the show in a multiple dog home; time will tell if this is true. She is like most 2 year old’s - full of energy and spunk!

Amos

Dear Friends of Amos,

Amos passed away peacefully in the loving arms of his owners last night. Although I feel sad, I take great solace in something June said to me on our drive home. Amos was very fortunate that GRIN found him and took him in, saving him from an unpleasant end. Also, we were very lucky to have been given the chance of caring for Amos during these past nine months.

I don’t know how long it has been since Amos was able to run, but I know, in my heart, that he is now running in some green meadow under a warm sunny sky. He is running on four beautiful legs that just yesterday gave him so much pain. We love you Amos and will miss you.God bless and keep you.

Jim & June

Amos: Male 10 years old

Amos is a special boy. He has been seriously neglected and wants and needs lots of love. We are getting him medical attention, including removing a mass above his eye. Unfortunately, this sweetheart is in the initial stages of renal failure. G.R.I.N. is hoping a loving home will step up and care for this boy through his final years.

Foster Update: 7/6/09

Amos has been with us now for about a month. He is a very sweet little Golden. He is gaining some much needed weight and his energy and appetite seems to be coming back each day. He just ran a little bit for the first time with our other dogs in the back yard just the other day. He gets along very well with our three dogs and does not seem to mind our cat. Although he has trouble getting up on hard floors, he loves to go on walks in the evening. His eyes tell the whole story. His eyes looked so sad when he first came to us, most likely reflecting a hard life. Now, he looks at us with admiration and love. He wants to be with us wherever we go in the house except up or down the stairs. He feels most content just laying by us when we are in the study or in the family room. He doesn't seem to want much, just someone to be there for him and love him. How could you resist this wonderful old guy with a white face??!!

Foster Update: 9/24/09

Amos is doing very well and continues to gain spirit and much needed weight. At his last vet appointment Amos’s blood work was much better and he is definitely healthier than he was. He has gained 10 pounds since he first came in and the doctor is very surprised at how well Amos looks and acts. He said it is like Amos gained back 4 years of life! Amos is now trying to jump up on us to greet us when we come home. This is, of course, a not-so-good habit for a younger dog, but for Amos, who could barely jump a few inches; this is a very welcome change.

Foster Update: 12/21/09

Amos loves the cold weather! With his thick “bear-like” coat he enjoys his evening walks in the cold more than any of his foster siblings. Amos loves to eat, finishing his dinner and then making the rounds to make sure the other dogs haven’t left anything for him in their food bowls. Amos loves to be by his foster dad and makes himself comfortable in whatever room he happens to be in. Amos is a sweet boy and just wants to be wherever “his people” are!

Update: 2/4/10

Sweet Amos appears to be winding down these past few weeks.  He has some trouble getting up even with his pain medications.  He is not eating as well as he had been and just wants to be where his foster dad is at all times.  Amos continues to be well loved and cared for by his foster family.
