Amos
Dear Friends of Amos,
Amos passed away peacefully in the loving arms of his owners last night. Although I feel sad, I take great solace in something June said to me on our drive home. Amos was very fortunate that GRIN found him and took him in, saving him from an unpleasant end. Also, we were very lucky to have been given the chance of caring for Amos during these past nine months.

I don’t know how long it has been since Amos was able to run, but I know, in my heart, that he is now running in some green meadow under a warm sunny sky. He is running on four beautiful legs that just yesterday gave him so much pain. We love you Amos and will miss you.God bless and keep you. Jim & June My Special Sponsor: Michelle Wesley Amos: Male 10 years oldAmos is a special boy. He has been seriously neglected and wants and needs lots of love. We are getting him medical attention, including removing a mass above his eye. Unfortunately, this sweetheart is in the initial stages of renal failure. G.R.I.N. is hoping a loving home will step up and care for this boy through his final years. Foster Update: 7/6/09 Amos has been with us now for about a month. He is a very sweet little Golden. He is gaining some much needed weight and his energy and appetite seems to be coming back each day. He just ran a little bit for the first time with our other dogs in the back yard just the other day. He gets along very well with our three dogs and does not seem to mind our cat. Although he has trouble getting up on hard floors, he loves to go on walks in the evening. His eyes tell the whole story. His eyes looked so sad when he first came to us, most likely reflecting a hard life. Now, he looks at us with admiration and love. He wants to be with us wherever we go in the house except up or down the stairs. He feels most content just laying by us when we are in the study or in the family room. He doesn't seem to want much, just someone to be there for him and love him. How could you resist this wonderful old guy with a white face??!! Foster Update: 9/24/09 Amos is doing very well and continues to gain spirit and much needed weight. At his last vet appointment Amos’s blood work was much better and he is definitely healthier than he was. He has gained 10 pounds since he first came in and the doctor is very surprised at how well Amos looks and acts. He said it is like Amos gained back 4 years of life! Amos is now trying to jump up on us to greet us when we come home. This is, of course, a not-so-good habit for a younger dog, but for Amos, who could barely jump a few inches; this is a very welcome change. Foster Update: 12/21/09 Amos loves the cold weather! With his thick “bear-like” coat he enjoys his evening walks in the cold more than any of his foster siblings. Amos loves to eat, finishing his dinner and then making the rounds to make sure the other dogs haven’t left anything for him in their food bowls. Amos loves to be by his foster dad and makes himself comfortable in whatever room he happens to be in. Amos is a sweet boy and just wants to be wherever “his people” are!
Update: 2/4/10 Sweet Amos appears to be winding down these past few weeks. He has some trouble getting up even with his pain medications. He is not eating as well as he had been and just wants to be where his foster dad is at all times. Amos continues to be well loved and cared for by his foster family.
