Surrender a Golden

At G.R.I.N. we understand that it may not always be possible for owners to provide for their pets in dire situations such as illness, job loss, relocation, etc.  It is never an easy decision to relinquish your pet, no matter what the circumstances.

Please take a few moments to visit "Can We Help You Keep Your Pet?" to see if there is a way to avoid giving up your loving companion.  This site offers valuable tips on allergies, training, moving and travel, behavioral problems and many more issues that can arise when you care for a pet.  Many problems can be corrected with proper training, patience and knowledge.

If finances are an issue, please see our "Financial Assistance Information" page for information on possible help with veterinary expenses and the like.

If all else fails and there is no other choice, let us help you find the perfect home for your beloved Golden Retriever.  Your dog will be placed in a loving, family environment with all the comforts of home until he/she is adopted.  We screen all our applicants and you can be rest assured that we will do our best to provide a new forever home for your golden retriever.  Read our brochure about the intake process for more information.

To surrender your golden, please contact our Intake Coordinator by leaving a message on the G.R.I.N. voicemail at (216) 229-0295, Voicemail Box #0.  Include your daytime and evening telephone numbers, including area code.  If you have Privacy Manager or do not accept calls from blocked or private numbers, your call cannot be returned. Or, you can send an e-mail to our Intake Coordinator.  Please make sure to include your telephone numbers in the e-mail, so that our intake volunteer can call you to discuss the intake process.

You can expedite your relinquishment by completing the Intake Form (PDF format) and mailing or faxing it to us.

Please note: We require any medical records to be forwarded as well with the intake form.

Mail your completed form and any additional paperwork to:

G.R.I.N. Intake Coordinator
P.O. Box 145
Willoughby OH  44096

or fax your form to:  440-943-6510

*Unfortunately, due to privacy restrictions we are not permitted to divulge the names of the adopters of our dogs.  However, we follow-up with the relinquishing party to let them know what type of home their dog is in, and whether or not other pets or children are in the home.  We hope that this effort helps, in a small way, to comfort the family after making the difficult decision to relinquish their golden.

Remember Me

Bella

Remember Me? Bella

Hi my name is Bella and I asked my mom to send some pictures to you. I am having a great time and love my new home and my new mom. I have been learning how to sit/stay, down/stay, come, off, leave it, walk on the leash, jump, touch, retrieve my ball, and lots more. This learning is fun but I still have trouble remembering it all the time.

I know I will get better it just takes practice. This weekend mom says I am going to learn how to stay in my yard. Then I will be able to run around and chase the ball without having a leash on. I am really good at barking and letting mom know I have to go outside. That's good, cause I get to enjoy the fresh air each time. I also have met my best friend Obie.
