GRIN tries to make every effort to keep this page current and up to date. Please keep in mind that by the time you submit an application and are going through the approval process, some of dogs pictured below may already be in the process of meeting and being adopted by other approved applicants.

The average ages of our rescued Goldens are 6-10 years of age, however GRIN does occasionally receive younger dogs that are in need of a home.  If you are interested in adopting a young dog, please do not wait until you see one on our website to apply for adoption.  Our approval process takes approximately 2-4 weeks to complete and by the time you have been approved for adoption, the younger dog will have already been placed into a loving home. Please start the application process now so that you can be on a waiting list for when GRIN does have younger dogs available.

Sprout is an adorable puppy! We could end there and you’d understand the rest without adding anything. Like most pups, he is fun-loving, energetic and friendly. He’ll appreciate training and guidance as he develops. This boy apparently loves baths and even sneaks in an empty one! He gets along terrifically with the resident dog, as well as cat, and the foster family adores him.

Foster Update: 5/18/26

Sprout is a sweet one-year-old Golden Retriever who has been settling beautifully into his foster home. As he’s grown more comfortable, his playful and lovable personality has really started to shine. He enjoys spending time with the resident dogs, and it’s been wonderful to see his confidence and social skills continue to grow.

He’s also been doing well around the cats. While he’s curious about them and will sometimes try to invite them to play, he has been respectful and leaves them alone when they’re not interested.

Sprout has been working hard on learning good manners, especially when it comes to mouthing, and he’s making great progress with the help of toys and redirection. With a steady routine and a little patience, he has really started to relax and feel at home.

He’s learning how to enjoy quiet time too, happily entertaining himself with toys and bones. Sprout will thrive in a home that can give him plenty of love, structure, and both mental and physical activity. He is a wonderful dog with so much love to give, and he’s going to make a very lucky family incredibly happy.

Foster Update: 5/5/26

Meet Sprout!

Sprout has been in his foster home for almost 2.5 weeks and is settling in beautifully. He recently had a vet visit where he impressed everyone with his excellent manners.  He even hopped into the car on his own for the first time…we were so proud of him!

Training & Manners
Sprout has been working very hard and it shows. He knows how to sit, can shake paws, and is nearly always able to lay down when asked. He sleeps through the night, is crate trained, and comes when called in the home. He takes both treats and medication very well.

Personality
Sprout has the sweetest disposition and loves being outdoors. Regular walks help him feel calm and confident, and he is learning how to settle on his own more each day. As he continues to feel safe and secure, his anxiety has noticeably decreased. When he becomes overly tired or anxious, he can get a bit mouthy, so he benefits from structure, rest, and gentle guidance.

Other Animals
Sprout gets along very well with our three cats and does great with our older dog. With younger or more energetic dogs, he can become overstimulated and is still learning appropriate play boundaries. Because of this, he would do best as the only dog in the home, where he can continue to thrive with focused attention and structure.

The Ideal Home
Sprout will do best with an adopter who enjoys providing routine, enrichment, and outdoor time. With continued structure and consistency, Sprout is going to be the best dog ever in his forever home. He has already come so far in a short time and has so much potential.
