GRIN tries to make every effort to keep this page current and up to date. Please keep in mind that by the time you submit an application and are going through the approval process, some of dogs pictured below may already be in the process of meeting and being adopted by other approved applicants.

The average ages of our rescued Goldens are 6-10 years of age, however GRIN does occasionally receive younger dogs that are in need of a home.  If you are interested in adopting a young dog, please do not wait until you see one on our website to apply for adoption.  Our approval process takes approximately 2-4 weeks to complete and by the time you have been approved for adoption, the younger dog will have already been placed into a loving home. Please start the application process now so that you can be on a waiting list for when GRIN does have younger dogs available.

Sophie is a new addition to GRIN. Unfortunately, this girl has had several different homes. Sophie needs a lot of attention, but she’s overall a really good girl. She’s fine with other dogs and kids. She’s very excitable and has lots of energy. She’ll need some guidance and training. The sweet thing about Sophie is that she loves everybody she meets. Once her owner gets a handle on her personality, they’re going to mesh really well. We’re excited for her to settle into a forever home and begin her new life.

Foster Update: 5/15/26

Sophie has made a wonderful transition to her foster home. She is a sweet, young golden girl who loves being with her person. She wants to follow wherever you go and wants to interact all the time. She gets along wonderfully with the other dogs in her foster home. 

She is a smaller, light-colored gold with a great deal of energy. She also knows how to settle in for a snooze when it is time to do so.  Sophie is totally and reliably house-trained. She will go to the door and with a little whimper will let you know she needs to go outside. She has not had any accident in the house since arriving.

Sophie is very curious! Outside, she wants to check out every possible smell and see who might have been in the yard overnight. For this reason, she will need a fenced area to run and play. Inside the house, her nosiness usually leads her to check out all the counters: kitchen, bathroom, dressers or desks. She does respond to the word "off".

Sophie did not like the crate when she first arrived. She fussed and let her foster mom know that she was not happy. Now, when her foster mom gets ready to leave, she calls her name and rattles the treat bag, and she goes right to the crate. She is always ready to be released when her foster mom returns.

We are working on leash walking. Sophie is very strong and has her own mind. Leash walking is a work in progress.  Sophie will make someone a great companion!
